Russia Transneft exec: High sulphur oil pipeline can cost 2 bln rbl
MOSCOW, Mar 17 (PRIME) -- Russia could build a 2–2.3 billion ruble pipeline to export sulfuric oil with a capacity of 30 million tonnes in a year, Sergei Andronov, a vice president of oil pipeline monopoly Transneft told corporate newspaper in an interview published Thursday.
“A separate highly sulfuric flow could take about 30 million tonnes out of the whole flow of highly sulfuric oil supplied to the system. It would improve the overall raw material quality in the system for sure,” Andronov said.
He said that the company had submitted the proposal to the government and the Energy Ministry, and it is being considered.
Without measures to reduce the sulfur content in oil it will rise in all export-bound pipelines. Sulphur content in the oil shipped via the Port of Ust-Luga can reach 1.75%, the Port of Novorossiysk 1.6% the Port of Primorsk 1.55%, he said.
